De 19 a 30 de Outubro Peniche recebe a 4ª edição desta prova que faz parte do Circuito Mundial de Surf.

O Rip Curl Pro Search é uma das mais importantes competições de surf profissional, é a 9.ª prova do ASP World Tour, e vai contar com os 45 melhores surfistas do mundo. A Pro Search é a única prova móvel do circuito mundial do ASP World Tour, que se realiza sempre num destino diferente.

Esta teve a sua primeira edição na Ilha de Reunião em 2005 e depois passou pelo México (2006), Chile (2007) e Indonésia (2008), chegando este ano às praias de “Supertubos” e “Lagido/ Baleal”, em Peniche.
A prova decorre entre 19 e 30 de Outubro, nos quatro melhores dias de ondulação.

A escolha do local desta prova é algo que se mantem em segredo até perto da realização da mesma para assim surpreender os participantes e levá-los a experimentar novas ondas!

Uma vez que esta prova se vai realizar, muito perto do fim do circuito mundial ASP Men's World Tour, é possível que o Campeão do Mundo de 2009 se decida no final deste Rip Curl Pro Search, a penultima prova do campeonato.

WOODSTOCK... 40 anos do Festival que mudou o Mundo!

O Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informalmente chamado de Woodstock ou Festival de Woodstock) foi um festival de música anunciado como "Uma Exposição Aquariana: 3 Dias de Paz & Música", organizado na fazenda de 600 hectares de Max Yasgur na cidade rural de Bethel, no estado de Nova York, Estados Unidos. Foi realizado entre os dias 15 de agosto e 18 de agosto de 1969. Originalmente, o festival deveria ocorrer na pequena cidade de Woodstock, também estado de Nova Iorque, onde moravam músicos como Bob Dylan, mas a população não aceitou, o que levou o evento para a pequena Bethel, a uma hora e meia de distância.

O festival exemplificou a era hippie e a contracultura do final dos anos 1960 e começo de 70. Trinta e dois dos mais conhecidos músicos da época apresentaram-se durante um chuvoso fim de semana defronte a meio milhão de espectadores. Apesar de tentativas posteriores de emular o festival, o evento original provou ser único e lendário, reconhecido como uma dos maiores momentos na história da música popular.

O Festival de Woodstock surgiu dos esforços de Michael Lang, John P. Roberts, Joel Rosenman e Artie Kornfeld. Roberts e Rosenman, que entrariam com as finanças, colocaram um anúncio sob o nome de Challenge International, Ltd., no New York Times e no Wall Street Journal ("Jovens com capital ilimitado buscam oportunidades de investimento legítimas e interessantes e propostas de negócios"). Lang e Kornfeld responderam o anúncio, e os quatro reuniram-se inicialmente para discutir a criação de um estúdio de gravação em Woodstock, mas a idéia evoluiu para um festival de música e artes ao ar livre.

Mesmo considerado um investimento arriscado, o projecto foi montado tendo em vista retorno financeiro. Os ingressos passaram a ser vendidos em lojas de disco e na área metropolitana de Nova York, ou via correio através de uma caixa postal. Custavam 18 dólares (aproximadamente 75 dólares em valores atuais), ou 24 dólares se adquiridos no dia. Aproximadamente 186,000 ingressos foram vendidos antecipadamente, e os organizadores estimaram um público de aproximadamente 200,000 pessoas. Não foi isso que aconteceu, no entanto. Mais de 500,000 pessoas compareceram, derrubando cercas e tornando o festival um evento gratuito.

O primeiro dia do festival.
Este influxo repentino provocou um congestionamentos imensos, bloqueando a Via Expressa do Estado de Nova York e eventualmente transformando Bethel em "área de calamidade pública". As instalações do festival não foram equipadas para providenciar saneamento ou primeiros-socorros para tal multidão, e centenas de pessoas viram-se a ter que lutar contra mau tempo, racionamento de comida e condições mínimas de higiene.

Embora o festival tenha sido reconhecidamente pacífico, dado o número de pessoas e as condições envolvidas, houve duas fatalidades registradas: a primeira resultado de uma provável overdose de heroína, e a outra após um atropelamento por um trator. Houve também dois partos registados (um dentro de um carro preso no congestionamento e outro num helicóptero), e quatro abortos.

Ainda assim, em sintonia com as esperanças idealísticas dos anos 60, Woodstock satisfez a maioria das pessoas que compareceram. Mesmo contando com uma qualidade musical excepcional, o destaque do festival foi mesmo o retrato comportamental exibido pela harmonia social e a atitude de seu imenso público.

Apresentações canceladas
The Jeff Beck Group estava agendado para tocar no festival, mas cancelou pois a banda acabou uma semana antes.
Iron Butterfly ficaram presos no aeroporto.
A banda canadiana Lighthouse estava certa de que tocaria no festival, mas, no final, acabaram decidindo por não tocar, pois temeram que aquilo fosse uma cena ruim para a banda. Mais tarde, alguns membros do grupo disseram que se arrependeram da decisão.

Convites negados
A banda Led Zeppelin foi chamada para tocar no festival, mas o empresário da banda, Peter Grant, afirmou: "Nós fomos chamados para tocar em Woodstock e a gravadora (Atlantic) estava bastante entusiasmada, e Frank Barsalona (o promotor) também. Porém eu disse não pois em Woodstock nós seríamos apenas outra banda na parada". Em vez disso, o grupo foi para uma turnê de mais sucesso.
The Doors foi considerada uma banda com grande performance, tinham bastante potencial, mas cancelaram a apresentação em cima da hora. Ao contrário do que muitos pensam, esta ocorrência não está relacionada ao fato de o vocalista, Jim Morrison, ter sido preso por postura indecente em um show anteriormente. O cancelamento do show se deu ao fato de que Morrison sabia que a sua voz soaria repugnante por estar ao ar livre. Há também a idéia de que Morrison, em um momento de paranóia, estava com medo que alguém atirasse nele e o matasse quando o mesmo pisasse no palco. No entanto, o baterista John Densmore compareceu no festival; no filme, ele pode ser visto ao lado do palco durante a apresentação de Joe Cocker, quando esse cantava o hino lisérgico "Let's Go Get Stoned".
Os promotores entraram em contato com John Lennon, pedindo para que os The Beatles tocassem no festival. Lennon disse que os Beatles não tocariam no festival a não ser se a Plastic Ono Band, da Yoko Ono, também pudesse tocar. Os promotores recusaram.

Michael Jackson, o “Rei da Pop”, o Elvis da minha geração, morreu aos 50 anos, vítima de uma paragem cardíaca. Ao início da tarde de ontem (horário da Califórnia) os serviços de emergência médica foram chamados à sua residência para socorrer o cantor, aparentemente em paragem respiratória — poucas horas mais tarde, já a partir do hospital universitário UCLA, para onde foi transportado, surgia a confirmação da morte.

A música de Michael Jackson marcou de forma indelével os anos 80 e influenciou toda uma geração de músicos. O seu álbum “Thriller”, lançado em 1982, é um ícone da música pop e continua a ser o disco mais vendido da história da música. E os vídeos que acompanharam os seus sucessos transformaram a indústria, abrindo a porta ao sucesso dos canais televisivos musicais como a MTV.

A carreira de Michael começou precocemente, acompanhando os seus irmãos no bem sucedido grupo “Jackson 5” logo aos onze anos. Dois anos mais tarde, e enquanto ainda actuava com os irmãos, iniciou a carreira a solo. Com “Thriller” (o disco mais vendido da tabela americana durante 37 semanas consecutivas) e “Bad” tornou-se o músico mais famoso do mundo.

Michael Jackson foi por duas vezes reconhecido no “Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame” e recebeu 13 Grammys. O seu trabalho humanitário — foi o responsável pelo “single” de ajuda a África “We Are the World” — foi reconhecido pelo Presidente Ronald Reagan.

Tão espectacular como o seu fulgurante sucesso foi o seu colapso: há doze anos que Jackson se mantinha afastado dos palcos, mas tinha marcado o seu regresso para o próximo mês em Londres.

A sua vida quotidiana, misteriosa e excêntrica, foi motivo de especulação durante décadas — alegadamente, Jackson dormia numa câmara de oxigénio, tratava o chimpanzé Bubbles como seu filho e queria transformar o seu rosto numa cópia do de Diana Ross, que idolatrava. O músico morava em reclusão num rancho chamado “Neverland”, uma propriedade de dez quilómetros quadrados que mais parecia um parque de diversões — e que esteve recentemente em hasta pública.

A sexualidade de Jackson também sempre foi motivo de especulação. O músico casou por duas vezes: a primeira das quais com Lisa Marie Presley, a filha de Elvis, o “Rei do Rock n’ Roll”, e depois com a sua enfermeira Deborah Rowe, mãe dos seus dois filhos mais velhos. A identidade da mãe do seu terceiro filho não é conhecida.

Os filhos, sempre escondidos das objectivas dos paparazzi por densos véus de cores escuras têm 12, 11 e seis anos e nomes bizarros: Prince Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson e Prince Blanket Michael Jackson II.

Michael Jackson admitiu publicamente ter-se submetido a várias cirurgias plásticas e ter lutado contra dependências de comprimidos e estupefacientes. Um polémico documentário realizado pela britânica Granada Television, em 2003, deixava implícitos vários casos de abuso sexual de crianças que Jackson acolhia no seu rancho.

Um desses casos chegou a tribunal: em 2005, foi acusado de abusar de um rapaz de 13 anos e julgado pelo crime de pedofilia num mediático processo, no qual terminou absolvido. Depois disso, o cantor saiu dos Estados Unidos e foi viver para o Bahrain.

Jackson procurava agora reavivar a sua carreira com uma série de 50 concertos na O2 Arena de Londres, cujos bilhetes esgotaram poucas horas depois de serem postos à venda. De acordo com a imprensa norte-americana, esses espectáculos seriam uma espécie de pontapé de saída para uma tournée mundial de três anos e um novo álbum de originais. Além disso, Jackson tinha planos para transformar o seu mítico “Thriller” numa espécie de musical para casino, a apresentar em Las Vegas e Macau.

A notícia da sua morte foi recebida com choque e consternação nos Estados Unidos (e em particular pela comunidade afro-americana que via Jackson como um emblema da cultura negra no país). Os fãs começaram imediatamente a reunir-se nas imediações do centro médico da UCLA e da casa de Bel-Air que o músico alugara recentemente.

Três versões, em edição especial, disponíveis em Portugal a 23 de Março de 2009!

"Ten", o álbum de estreia que vendeu mais de 12 milhões de exemplares e apresentou os Pearl Jam ao mundo em 1991, irá ser reeditado em 3 novas e alargadas edições, disponíveis em Portugal a 23 de Março de 2009.
A reedição de "Ten" dá início a uma campanha de reedição do catálogo musical, durante dois anos, até à comemoração do 20.º aniversário da banda em 2011.

Cada conjunto "Ten" irá incluir duas versões do álbum: a versão remasterizada do álbum original e ainda uma versão remisturada adicional, a cargo do produtor de longa data da banda, Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Audioslave). Os Pearl Jam lançaram o álbum "Ten" a 27 de Agosto de 1991. O disco atingiu o n.º 2 da tabela norte-americana de álbuns, vendeu 12 milhões de exemplares e tornou-se num dos ícones culturais dos anos 90. Temas como "Alive", "Black", "Even Flow" e "Jeremy" tornaram-se verdadeiros hinos das rádios de rock e continuam a marcar presença no alinhamento dos concertos apresentados pela banda. O álbum foi produzido por Rick Parasher. O alinhamento dos Pearl Jam em 1991 era constituído por Jeff Ament (baixista), Stone Gossard (guitarrista), Dave Krusen (baterista), Mike McCready (guitarrista) e Eddie Vedder (vocalista).

"Che", a Revolução chegou ao cinema!

O realizador Steven Soderbergh regressa aos ecrãs nacionais em grande pompa e circunstância e a primeira parte de um díptico cinematográfico, dedicado a “Che” Guevara, o carismático guerreiro argentino que lutou ao lado de Fidel castro, é prova disso mesmo.
Estreia dia 19 de Março a primeira parte do filme “CHE” que tem por título “The Argentine” e posteriormente irá estrear a segunda parte de nome “Guerrilha”
Este projecto nasceu de duas pessoas que já se conheciam bem. A espantosa interpretação de Benicio Del Toro em “Traffic” (filme sobre a droga e todo o seu mundo envolvente) valeu-lhe um Oscar de Melhor Actor Secundário e deu a Soderbergh o de Melhor Realizador no ano 2000.
Foi curiosamente durante as rodagens desse mesmo filme que Benicio Del Toro propôs ao realizador a adaptação das memórias de “Che” Guevara.
O filme (parte 1 e 2) retrata a vida de Ernesto “Che” Guevara (nascido em 1928 em Rosario, Argentina) a partir do momento em que se encontra com Fidel Castro no México em 1955.
A narrativa continua o percurso do argentino, passando pela união do seu projecto médico a uma facção de luta, e como tal acaba por ter um lugar na revolução. Durante esse tempo desempenhou vários cargos políticos na Cuba de Fidel, chegando a fazer um discurso polemico em 1964 na ONU.
A “Biopic” passa também pelo depois, onde “Che” foi lutar para o Congo e acaba os seus dias dentro da guerrilha boliviana, sendo executado a 9 de Outubro de 1967.
Com uma magnífica interpretação de Del Toro, “CHE” valeu ao actor o prémio de interpretação masculina no ultimo Festival de Cannes.

18 de Novembro de 1993. Os Nirvana actuam, em formato acústico,nos estúdios da Sony em Nova Iorque. Cinco meses depois, Kurt Cobain desaparece e o mito nasce. “MTV Unplugged In New York” foi o nome do álbum que editou esse registo histórico.
Uma das covers incluídas no álbum era “The Man who sold the world” um original de David Bowie, composta pelo mesmo e que tinha sido editada em 1970 no álbum com o mesmo nome!
Curiosamente, Bowie pouco deu importância a esta faixa na inclusão ao vivo em muitas tornées, passando a inclui-la mais frequentemente depois do “BUMM” que a mesma teve na versão da banda de Seatlle.
Ora ai está… uma das poucas vezes interpretada ao vivo pelo Sr. David Bowie…
